In addition to regattas and long distance events the clubs compete for a number of different Trophies organised by the SRA
These include the Ormiston Trophy, Inter Club Racing event, Most improved Sculler, Junior and Veteran Pennants
Inter Club Races
- The Lowe Cup for gentlemen’s single skiffs
- The Davis Challenge Cup for gentlemen’s double skiffs
- The Penny Chuter Cup for ladies’ single skiffs
- The Churchill Trophy for ladies’ double skiffs
Most improved Sculler of the year Award
The criteria that shall be used in assessing a candidate for the award shall include:
- The sculler’s experience and success prior to the current season.
- The number of wins and other high placings in races during the current season.
- The diversity of competition considering long distance and sprint and double and single skiff racing.
- The determination and general conduct shown during racing.
- Any special personal circumstances.
Ruth Knight award for coxswain of the year
All who coxswain a race during an annual racing season are eligible to be considered for this award. The criteria that shall be used in assessing a candidate for the award shall include demonstration of the following characteristics, throughout the full process of skiff racing (i.e. navigating to the Start, crew preparation for racing both before and while under start control, racing and navigating from the Finish):
(a) Clear and appropriate communication with their crew and race officials.
(b) Knowledge of the river and any specific regatta instructions to ensure the safety of the crew under their control and of other river users.
(c) Encouraging and motivating racing crews with enthusiasm, patience and technical knowledge appropriate to the crews’ experience, ability and status.
(d) Appropriate positioning of the boat at all times and to ensure the most effective course for the crew.
(e) The diversity of competitions in which they have coxed considering processional and sprint skiff racing, and the range of crew statuses.
